Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #1 Review

Moon Girl And Devil Dinosaur #1 -

On the Lower East Side of Manhattan, Lunella Lafayette is a trying desperately to be all she can be...Despite the fact that she's friendless, misunderstood by both her parents and her teachers, and she's the butt of every joke her peers can throw her way. She's an underdog personified with one big advantage: she's got a mind that just won't quit. She uses that mind to invent, to innovate; however, her innovations go unnoticed by The Future Foundation and every school for gifted youngsters that she's applied to. Undeterred, Lunella loses herself in giving it all she's got. But Lunella has a big secret that has her terrified: she's got the Inhuman gene activated by the Terrigen mists. Determined to fix her problem alone, she studies up on the Kree invasion and the Terrigen mists sweeping across the globe. Convinced that the solution to her dilemma is somewhere out there, Lunella scours the city until she comes upon a mysterious, glowing object destined to not only change her life forever, but also to change the life of a fearsome devil of a dinosaur hero from deep in the forgotten past. Worlds are about to collide - it looks like the distant past is going to sink its TEETH into the future.

I have no idea who Brandon Montclair and Amy Reeder are, but they sure know how to write an engaging, fun comic complete with a neat little origin story. Lunella is adorable, and the humiliation, and struggle she endures with a stiff upper lip and a mountain of faith in herself is sure to  warm the heart of even the most cantankerous of comic book fans. Natasha Bustos keeps it simple with artwork that shows clean lines, and panels that aren't overly busy. The look of the book is definitely kid friendly, but cool enough for adults to enjoy. This book feels special - like it's really going somewhere that might have an impact on the MU. Good things come in small packages and many fires start with just a small spark. I'm putting Moon-Girl on my daughter's pull list...And rest assured, I'll be reading it too.

TEX RATING: 8.75 out of 10

LIL' MISS TEX's RATING: 10 out of 10. Hey, the girl knows what she likes - after reading this book, she sidled up to me and made sure, in no uncertain terms, that this book would be on her monthly pull list forever more. No what parent doesn't love that?

Thanks for reading.

    1. Silk is always on my list ((and my daughter's). I am partial to her over Spider-Gwen.

    1. Yep,

I'll tell ya...Only Devil Dinosaur made it to the future. Moon Boy is eating that big banana in the sky.

I can't wait to see where this goes - it may be another Kamala Khan phenomenon.
